I have decided to put more posts onto my blog about my training as I am doing lots of great things as preparation for the next stage of my challenge and it would be a shame to miss it all out.
In April I will finish walking on the Pennine Way and have decided to walk/run/walk over three days. Starting at Hebden Bridge I will walk for about 4 miles before stopping for the night, the next day I will run 22 miles to Crowden and then on day three I will walk 16 miles to Edale.
In preparation for this I have been increasing the mileage of my long weekend run, last Sunday I ran 7 miles in freezing conditions and today I ran 11 miles in glorious sunshine!
If you haven't been to the coast of North Northumberland and over the border into Scotland you are missing a treat - it is stunningly beautiful. I can't believe we have been living up here for 10 years and this is the first time I have done this stretch of path.
From Eyemouth the path runs along the edge of the golf course and then around the edge of the fields to what must be one of the highest areas of cliff along this part of the coast, it is then a steep plunge down the road to Burnmouth Harbour followed by an equally steep climb out the other side. The path then runs alongside the East Coast mainline all the way into Berwick. The path is mostly good between Eyemouth and the Marshall Meadows House Caravan Park, even at this time of year but was increasingly wet and muddy as I made my way around the edges of the Berwick golf course and Berwick Caravan Park. Despite this the early spring sun was shining and it felt good to be out.
